Impressive antique 19th century taxidermy diorama
An impressive country house cased 19th century taxidermy diorama of large proportion.
A wonderful display of large scale including a barn owl, a tawny owl, a red squirrel, a woodpecker, a jay and a sparrow hawk.
The case is original with beautiful scumble glaze decoration.
The specimens are set within a naturalistic woodland mount. With lovely extra details like snail shells at the front of the diorama.
Dating to circa 1880.
Case is structurally sound with the glass well fixed. Some age related wear to some specimens (please use the zoom function for close inspection).
Only a minor sign of a few old worm holes to top of case. Not active and only a few holes.
